Salvation Army Citadel Cirencester copyright F Beetlestone

This imposing building was formerly the Temperance Hall opened in December 1846.   It was built by Christopher Bowly on the site of the Old Masters Brewery. The Salvation Army leased the Hall from 1881 to the late 1890s.  After a period of relocation in Watermoor the Salvation Army returned to purchase the building in 1976.  The Salvation Army continues to meet here – a long established part of the Cirencester community. Much of the essential character of the original building is still in place although there have been several alterations over the years.
