Churches - most churches across the nation were open on Saturday 12th September for Ride and Stride

Saturday 12th September was the date of a nationwide charity event to raise money for maintaining church heritage. Locally this is co-ordinated by the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust, who have donated more than £1million for the maintenance of the fabric of churches in the county. Sponsored Riders and Striders set off from most churches during the day to visit as many other churches as they wished.

Cirencester Archaeological and Historical Society joined other organisations in Cirencester, including Cirencester Civic Society in providing facilities to help run the 2008 Heritage Open Days. More properties than ever were open last year, and guided tours of several of them and of historic gardens proved popular.  If you would like to assist in 2010, either in preparing material for exhibition or assisting for an hour or so at an open property, please contact us for more details.
